Hi Mark...

Your radios is deaf....my 1000 is good on most freqs from BC to VHF...but 
leaves something to be desired on 437 mhz sats...I use a preamp on the wxsats 
at 137 mhz just to clear up some of the noise which effects the pictures...

The only thing I can think of besides a lightning hit might be that the EPROM 
got scrambled....look up on the TalkPCR site and there is a good discussion 
about it...it is the only "bone of contention" people have with the radio.  
And it seems ICOM ALWAYS blames the user....there are programs to back up 
your EPROM and some to restore it and some to replace it by guesswork....the 
settings are different for every unit ...

Keep us posted...I've been dreading the day I might have to send mine back..

 that my PCR1000 is very, very deaf.  The receive of the wx sats is 
 horrible.  The sensitivity is just not up to par. >>
