[PCR-1000] receiver location in house/Antenna relay et al

>From personal experience, I can unequivocally state that indoor antennas are
NOT immune to lightening or static build up.  Those attic antennas DO need a
gas-discharge or gap-type of lightening ground AND a method of discharging
the static.  The PCR-1000's very sensitive front end seems especially
vulnerable to static build-up.

I did put a Palomar matching balum on my attic long wire (50') quite a while
ago.  I use this antenna on a pair of early synthesized receivers with
reasonably sensitive front-ends.  I no longer get the static induced fade
outs during the dry late summer and early fall Thunderstorm season.  I used
to have to intermittently ground the antenna wire to my shack ground.  Now
the static seems to dissipate by itself.
