All -
I've observed over that last few days some popping/noise in the repeater
and at times the s-meter on my radio shows less than full scale. In
addition to the APRS digi node being installed recently (on 144.390) at
the same site know that the temperature in this room is likely to be 100
degrees + . This may be affecting the repeater. The manual recommends
installing a fan if the environment exceeds 100 degrees. It is possible
that the diplexer is a playing a roll in this though the propaganda on
the device says it only introduces a .1 db loss so that should not be
affecting anything.
There is an A/C unit in the room but I don't know that it works. I will
try it next time I'm there (hopefully Friday). If so, I will turn it on
and hope that it can lower the temperature some. If the A/C doesn't
work, I will have a fan that I will setup to help "cool" things off.
KC5MN will be taking a look at the 146.700 repeater/controller and
hopefully figure out what its problem is. Bill - thanks in advance for
helping!
Baseball season is over so I'm going to resume working on the 147.240
repeater. Last night I found out that there was no pin-out for the db9
on the back of the repeater. I got that information this morning so I
can now build an interface cable. The Maggiore folks were quick to
provide this information.
73s,
glenn
