Subject: upcoming November 18 Earthquake Drill concerning WL2K and ke5nzy

Hello ALL:

I have had many ask me how WL2K would fit in and how it
might be tested as far as ke5nzy and the drill is concerned. I will do my
best to provide some answers.

#1 Most all the damage to infrastructure would occur in NE Arkansas.

#2 Internet would most likely be down in NE Arkansas and therefore
traditional email would also be down in that part of the state.

#3 Internet would likely not be down in other parts of the state or other
states, so I can check the email over RF and send replies VIA RF.

#4 For the purpose of this drill let's assume I [ke5nzy] and others are in
NE Arkansas and we wish to be able to send emails with attachments
containing supply list etc, to those outside the disaster zone who likely do
have internet or can reach an RMS node who does.

#5 So if you are in NE Arkansas, where the internet will be down and you
wish to send traffic via email, then test your abilities using packlink or
airmail and send your test traffic to ke5nzy at winlink.org through any RMS
node (including ke5nzy-10) and I will respond with a message (email) back to
you confirming message received. I am in the zone with no internet so it
will be all RF for me as well.

#6 Most of you will be in a zone where the internet is not effected,
therefore all you need to do in order to get your traffic passed to my
station is simply use the email program you always use and send your test
traffic to ke5nzy at winlink.org and I will receive it VIA WL2K RF and will
send you a reply VIA RF, that will arrive in the inbox you always use.
Verifying to you that you could in fact send email into the disaster zone
even though the internet is down in that area, and that traffic could then
be handled as needed locally.

#7 My hope is that everyone outside of NE Arkansas would send a test message
to ke5nzy at winlink.org anytime during the drill, and I will get confirmations
sent back to you in a timely manner. That those in the disaster zone NE
Arkansas will send your WL2K via RF.

One thing you must do!!!! ADD the following without the quotes to the
beginning of the subject line "//WL2K" we can talk about why later.

#8 Last but not least, it is important for us to test all the tools in the
toolbox so send me an email, send Ed an APRS message, check in on 3.9875,
test out your packet skills as well, and enjoy the drill. The Arkansas
Packet network is looking better every day and it will be up and running at
ADEM for the drill. WL2K, Packet, Voice, PBBS are all going at ADEM.

Any questions feel free to just ask.
