[PaQSO] long 40m, try 80m more?

We folks in Michigan and others in other places of similar distance will
really appreciate folks who are on 40 from your state. :)

I've probably experienced 10 or 11 solar cycles in my 60+ years of
hamming, so this "anomaly" we've been experiencing recently doesn't seem
very anomalous.

40 has {usually) been longer than NVIS. In conversations with RA, the
Egyptian sun god, I've been told to expect the unexpected, because he
and the Norse, Roman, Greek, and other sun gods often collaborate to
give us mortals surprises in propagation. :)

They've recently been showering us with ongoing high solar winds, from a
large "hole" in he atmospher of he sun. This has done strange things to
propagation. So, as the boy scouts are wont to say "Be Prepared" for
anything.

In those two years, 40m daylight seemed to be the bread-and-butter band for QSO parties, but I wonder if it will work as well now. Should we consider spending a bit more time on 80m daylight for longer groundwave if 40m isn't as productive as expected?
