[PaQSO] long 40m, try 80m more?

I'm really into NPOTA, and I've noticed that since around April,

40m is been "long". From here in the Philly burbs,
I now almost never hear parks on 40m in EPA, metro NYC,NJ, WDC, or northern MD and VA. So, I wonder if 40m daytime will be as

effective for in-state county contacts and neighboring states
as it was for the previous two years.

I've only been active two years, so I don't know the seasonal band patterns.
In those two years, 40m daylight seemed to be the bread-and-butter
band for QSO parties, but I wonder if it will work as well now.
Should we consider spending a bit more time
on 80m daylight for longer groundwave if 40m isn't as productive
as expected?

Would be interested in hearing from the experienced operators who've
been through a few propagation cycles.
