[PaQSO] long 40m, try 80m more?

Pete,

Your antenna for 40m has been a vertically polarized antenna right? To keep
40m short, low horizontal antennas provide an advantage, as they pick up
local signals better, often much better than vertically polarized antennas
(especially outside of groundwave distances). If you operate mobile then
you don't have much of an option, but for home stations, getting a low
horizontal wire up if you don't have one is worth doing. On 80 this also
holds true (although most of us have our 80m wire "low" in terms of
wavelengths as is. But if your primary 80m antenna is also a vertical, then
again a low wire may help in-state.
