[PaQSO] Bonus Issues

I have gotten many replies to me directly about the
previous comments I posted about the W3UU bonus
station. I will attempt to further explain a few
concerns, as well as ask for clarifications on a few
issues. I want for everybody to be in on this.
Comments to me will not be generally seen:

1.OK, on submitting check logs only. That means a lot
and shows the bonus is in it for the proper reasons.
Issue resolved.

2.If I work W3UU in YOR on 40m SSB then the W3UU
mobile goes to YOR and operates 40m SSB, that HAS TO
BE A DUPE for me. Same call, same band, same mode.
If you are claiming otherwise, in my opinion, this is
some serious rule bending.

3.I fail to see why it would be difficult for each
fixed bonus station to sign /R, then make the portable
station /R too. This would alleviate ALL CONFUSION,
and be consistent. It would work well with ALL
software too. You can always throw out what county
you are in as part of your CQ.

4.It also still makes no sense for a portable station
to operate from the same county already having a fixed
station. The point of the portable operation is to go
to rare non-represented counties. If different
counties are activated all confusion will also be
alleviated.

5.Since I am doing the logs for a multi, W3UU contacts
will all be logged /R, whether fixed, mobile, or
whatever. That means if a mobile is in the same
county as a fixed bonus, it will NOT be worked. I
need to simplify this for myself. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO
BE FUN. When the contest gets to be a chore, I will
stop doing it. That may be approaching.

I think the mobile would also be required to be logged
as W3UU/R, because if it was entered as W3UU/M, that
would seem to jazz the log up.

6.As I see it, there will be five bonus stations, WOW!
Fixed in DAU, CUM, YOR, PER, and the mobile. That
means each of the five bonus stations can keep working
the same people over and over and over again, etc.

7.I also wonder how the trustee of the callsign can be
in five places at once to supervise this. That was
brought up, but never addressed.

8.Conceivably, we can have a scenario whereby 5
stations will be running W3UU on the same band and
mode at once. So, I can spin the knob on 80m SSB and
work the same call 5 times within a few minutes? Is
it legal to do this? I thought you can only have one
call on a certain band and mode. This issue was
raised to me a few years ago. We had a special event
station and two stations were running the same call on
40m SSB at the same time, I think. Someone called and
questioned the legality of that.

9.The county line issue was raised in another
unrelated posting. This isn’t bonus related. The
decision was made to keep it like last year. One
contact multiple counties.

I applaud the W3UU group for putting the effort into
this. I understand the work involved. I am not sure
that all of the ramifications involved were thought
of, though. I just want for this to go off with
minimal problems for all and for a few issues to be
addressed. If we want to do novel things in the
future, perhaps we can get a club to apply for a few
special event 1x1 calls, or something. That would be
different. Thanks.
