I will be back in PA this year, along with W8DRZ/DD (Designated Driver). For
the first time we plan to stick around for both days of the party.
The plan this year is to do a combination of mobile and rover, with two
separate entries. I expect to make 6-10 stops, mainly in the more rare counties,
where we will put up a dipole, using either convenient trees or a DK9SQ
fiberglass mast for support. During these rover stops we will be primarily operating
SSB, except for a few counties where we only pass through a few miles, in
which we will do both modes.
Otherwise we'll be operating while driving, doing primarily CW while moving.
We will mostly be identifying as K8MR/3, not distinguishing whether rover or
mobile. We will sort out the logs (Rover vs. Mobile) afterward. In other
words, we do not expect to work people as both K8MR/M and K8MR/R from the same
county/band/mode.
The planned route, subject to real time adjustment for time spent stopped,
weather, etc.:
Saturday: MER VEN BUT CLA JEF FOR WAR MCK ELK CRN (ELK) CLE CEN
BLA HUN (CEN) MIF JUN SNY UNI NUM MTR
Sunday: (UNI) (NUM) (MTR) (NUM) SNY JUN PER CUM FRA (HUN) FUL BED SOM CMB
INN ARM (BUT) LAW
(Counties in parentheses are ones we return to a second time).
