[PaQSO] N1MM logger and serial number

With everything else I had to do around home and with the kids I got as
far as thinking about what I wanted to do for PQP. So I did not get a
chance to experiment with N1MM's logger. But I did peruse the manual
and found the following note; for CQ WW, N1MM gives serial numbers per
band and as long as you do not have two radios on the same band (usually
a rule anyway) your OK. The manual also noted that the CQ rules
committee had no problems with this.

My feeling is that stations should not jump serial numbers on successive
QSO's. If I'm sitting in the pileup its easier to track one by one
increases than indeterminate jumps. Sometimes I miss the number and the
rare one has already moved on to the next station, so I catch his
exchange and subtract one. If I'm running stations, its also easier and
keeps me in the groove if I only have to keep adding one to the last
number..

I would recommend that serial numbers run successively either per
station or per band. I have no problem if the logging software requires
different serial number starting points for later merging.

I'll let you know what I find from N1MM.

Take care,

P.S. I just saw a note that CT is now being released as freeware. Here is the note from Ken K1EA on the CT-User forum.
Hi guys,

"As of today, I'm making CT freeware. That doesn't mean I'm stopping work on CT, just that I don't want money for it anymore.

I have changed the permissions on ctvault to let anyone download. The manual is being converted to PDF format, and I'll be updating it over the next few months.

I cut my teeth on contesting software with CT and enjoyed it for what it could do. Unfortunately it never supported the PQP.
