I just read the rules, and, while the word "Single Op" is used more than
once, there is no definition of what constitutes a single op.

Maybe it's someone who is not married?

But, to be serious, I think the definition of a single op is (or at least
should be) the GAARD (that is, Generally Accepted Amateur Radio Definition)
which says "one person performing all the functions.......transmitting,
logging, etc" or a reasonable facsimile thereof.

And maybe, in a larger sense, this points out the need for a little
tweaking of the rules.......oh no......I've done it again......I can hear
it from all over the state.....it ain't broke......don't fix
it............uh.....er........sorry.....could not stop myself.

If you get a chance, read K1AR's column in the current issue of CQ for a
perspective on the need for/reasons behind the frequent changing/tweaking
of contest rules.

And BTW, boy has my original post on this subject morphed.....

>>>>>This is the kind of questions I would like to see more of. I KNOW OF A
STATION LAST YEAR THAT OPERATED 1 RIG ON SAT. AND THEN 2 ON SUN. HE STILL
CLAIMED SINGLE OP STATION. THEN THERE WAS ANOTHER THAT HAD A LOGGER AND
CLAIMED SINGLE OP. THESE ARE ALL THINGS THAT I FEEL NEED WORKED OUT. Single
Op means just that, one person doing it all..... <<<<<<<<<<<

Its been a while since i read the rules but i think the guy that worked
single op and had a logger in my eyes i would let him go becuase i don't
think the rule absolutly say single op is just that single. now as for the
2 radios i don't know if you mean SO2R or that he end up haveing a true
Multi station with 2 radios and 2 operators for those radios. SO2R is still
single op in my eyes.

>>>>>>>> Does MOBILE mean on the road with WHEELS TURNING or just
because you
have all of your equipment in your Mobil as one post to this group stated ?
One portable station claimed to be MOBIL because of the fact that he
operated from his car even though he never moved from one spot. HOW DO SOME
PEOPLE GET THESE IDEAS FROM READING THE RULES ? ? <<<<<<<<<<

Mobile means that your using Mobile Equiment to work the contest in my eyes
he can be parked in his drive-way using his HF rig and antenna to work the
whole test. WHY anyone would want to do this is why beyond me.

I Guess it's whatever floats your boat! come on guys its the PAQSO PARTY
Not some big shot contest! but i see the point of this question and i do
see someone streching whats printed in Black and White.
