That word describes my computer perfectly. I am using the souncard only
because my serial ports won't work, even those on an add-on card after I
disabled the original ones (but the sign-on screen lists them.)

I have the original card integral to the motherboard (disabled by Windows),
and a Creative Vibra 128. The menu under Volume Control doesn't list them as
such, but "SB Audio PCI Mixer", "SB16 Mixer (220)" and "Sound System Mixer
(5334)." AGWPE lists them the same way without "mixer".

No, but I see very slight random noise on the axis (more like slight
displacements of sections of the baseline). This is unaffected by any signal
or receiver noise.
