Legislative Update and call for action - K5EMS

Our antenna bill [old HB 1037] has been amended to SB426. The PRB1
legislation is still alive, and has the possibility to be passed under
this latest legislative move.

John, WB5SYT, spent a considerable amount of time and effort at the
Capital today, and in talking to many of the principals involved. Let's
not let his effort slide on this issue. I for one, and I know many of
you, were disappointed when 1037 did not make it to the House floor.
Now, we have a second chance to get this bill approved this year. GET
BEHIND THIS EFFORT.

Here is what we would like from all of Oklahoma Radio Amateurs ......

First - the Senate Bill 426 has been moved to a conference committee for
action. It is in our best interest at this time to contact each of these
several Senators and House Members to get SB426 out of that committee.
This effort is irregardless of their home district ... write them, email
them, phone them, visit them -- just let them know what you think of the
amendment. Don't let the first part of this bill influence you -- it is
some language changing how municipalities annex land to their respective
locals. Our bill follows this annex language -- they have combined the
two into one piece of legislation -- SB426

Second - contact your local Senator or State Representative. Let them
know that we would appreciate their support on this legislation. On the
WEB, go to http://www.capitolconnect.com/oklahoma/default.aspx to find
your local elected officials. You can look at the Bill or find the
addresses of both the Senate and House by going to:
http://www.lsb.state.ok.us/. All of these folks are very easy to visit
with and desire our input. Please take the time to help with effort - it
will mean a lot right now, and for the future of Amateur Radio. If you
want further information about any of this, or need a copy of the
legislation, please don't hesitate to contact myself or John Thomason.
And, let us know when you make a contact. We want to thank Joe, K5BQG,
for staying on top of this issue and letting us know about the amendment.
Spread the word ... pass this information to all you visit with - Clubs,
make sure you remind all of your members of this important legislation.

Eddie - K5EMS - 73
