[OKDXA] Ice

I have some pictures of my antennas at the peak of the ice
accumulation. I didn't think they could droop that much and survive,
but they appear to have done just that. All the ice is now gone, but
it's dark and I can't see if anything has been permanently
deformed. Everything checks fine now, so they must have survived.

At it's peak, I had about 1/2" of ice. I live on wooded land and the
sound of the trees snapping sometimes sounded like gun fire. I'm very
glad now that there are no trees near my house or antennas. While
unrelated, the right limit switch on my T2X appears to be open. I
simply wired around it and everything works OK for now. Maybe it's
simply dirty... (dreams are cheap).

We're on a well and someday hope to have livestock, so we have a 13
kW generator that runs on natural gas. I can feed the whole house
with it through a transfer switch, so power failures are not terribly
serious for us. We were without power for about 8 h at my place, but
many customers in Norman are still without power.

I'll take as much snow and sleet as Nature cares to dish out over any
amount of ice.
