[OKDXA] IRC's

Hi everyone,

Two IRC items:
1. My post office told me the IRC was worth only first class postage or 39
cents. Based on Bernie's article, I told them (and showed them on the IRC)
that it was for air mail to anywhere, or 84 cents. They checked and agreed.
Then, this last time, the post mistress there told me she'd by happy to
exchange them for 84 cent air mail stamps, or for 90 cents, cash! I took
the latter.

2. I had some $1.70 (or was it $1.75?) cent IRCs that expired 12/31/06 (the
date shown on them). The PO said they have not gotten any of the new IRCs
that go to 2009 because they were not yet out of the old ones. They then
pulled out an official procedure for updating the $1.70 IRCs to the current
$1.80 (or $1.75 to $1.85) by affixing a 10 cent stamp in the left box and
then sealing it with the PO purple stamp. BUT, there was no change of the
date from the old 12/31/06! I can just see somebody in Russia trying to
tell their PO that the IRC is good after 12/31/06. I am not buying any more
IRCs until I can get the new ones!
