John, I used to be WG5C, living in Moore, OK. But, here's my
story about a similar situation here in IN. I had no luck in
months of trying to get a line noise problem solved. I was
looking at the ARRL web page, and found help in John, K2QAI He
worked with me, and the first step was he sent a letter to the
CEO of our local electric company. A couple of more months
passed, and still no fix, and still getting the run around from
the electric company. Finally, John contacted the FCC, who in
turn sent a letter to the Mayor, explaining that if the problem
was not resolved, fines could result. It wasn't long after that,
and the problem was fixed. Of course we have to give them time
to fix these things, but it took 7 months total to get this
problem fixed, and the noise was 24/7, and beaming to EU, it was
better then S9 most of the time and 15/20 over on the lower
bands. And this all started right before contest season! Here is
one of the pages on the ARRL web site about RFI problems, and
hopefully, you don't have to go to the extremes that I did. The
thing the electric company did that really bothered me, was that
I was getting the brush off from them.
Here's the page... http://www.arrl.org/news/rfi/2001/1214.html
Good luck...
73, Mike K9MI
