When the code dropped for Tech, many people got their tech ticket.  One problem. The CC repeater range only came to the Mathis/Lake CC area.  No repeaters to the west.  No problem. Hams in each county tended to a particular simplex freq.  Ran power, good antennae, and good coax.

In case of bad weather, CC Skywarn would call me, and ask me to get reports od hams west of me.  So QSY to each simplex to get a report. Then to the SW repeater to report into CC.

Worked well.  You learn about 2m by going the simplex route.
