In reply to KE5HDF, Ralph's reply to Wayne KA5QDG's comments regarding the
simplex net:
*Get over it. If you don't like the simplex groups turn the knob.*

Get over it? Are Wayne's comments not valid or respected? Really?
How offensive!

Consider:
1. Wayne, KA5QDG and his group supports and maintains a large number of the
Houston area repeaters including the ones OFARC uses; thousands of hours
and resources expended in this effort, if I was the trustee of those
repeaters I would close them off to OFARC's activities. Many of these
repeaters are hardened to operate during times of disasters.

2. "*During Harvey a LOT of** repeaters went down and some folks were not
able to find Transtar*." Ralph, what facts do you have to support this?
Just because you think this - it is true? I was at Red Cross HQ during
Harvey and I was actively using the 147.000 MHz repeater and in
communication with Transtar on this and other frequencies.

3. As a former leader in ARES (which by the way is easy to join and with
minimum requirements to be a member) I have personally requested assistance
from OFARC members to assist with a Harris County Health event but with no
response or participation by OFARC members. I find it interesting that you
utilize Transtar facilities and equipment but with little in return.
>From the OFARC Mission statement on the website:
-Maintain the ability to furnish communication services for Civil Defense,
Red Cross, state, federal, county and municipal agencies or such charitable
organizations during times of emergency or distress (c'mon, really??)
- Provide disaster relief and public service (what??)
Really??

4. There are some OFARC members who do a great deal for the ham community
(Mark, WB5ANN etc) but then there are others who continue to criticise
without action.

5. I speak as a person who will be licensed for 50 years next year (but
interestingly enough, I am younger than 85% of the OFARC by my estimate)
and have seen and not spoken about this sort of nonsense in the past.. I am
silent no longer.

6. I'm good with simplex operations, in fact I joined the drill last night.
Another tool in the toolbox.

Remove me from the OFARC membership roster if I am on it, remove me from
this mail list.

Im done.
