Club members,

I was contacted by OM Bill Thienes, WA5UZC, who donated an old rig that
he would like to see go to someone who would take good care of it.
The rig is a Galaxy V mark 2 - 80 thru 10 meters (no WARC bands) SSB and
CW. There is the transceiver, power supply, speaker, remote VFO, and an
accessory console with SWR/VU meter and a 24-hour mechanical digital
clock. Also manuals on the transceiver and all the accessories, and
service bulletins.

The gear looks to be in pretty good shape cosmetically, considering it's
been in storage for 30 years, all except for the speaker cabinet, which
has the old black crinkle paint crinkling right off. The power supply
has a massive transformer and 4 large paper caps.

There are some pictures and information on the old interwebs -
http://www.rigpix.com/galaxy/vmarkii.htm has specifications and a good
picture of the transceiver, and there are some good pictures here:
http://www.qsl.net/la5ki/org/ga/vmk2.htm

I have a picture of the whole collection, but pictures won't get through
the reflector. Anyone interested please reply to me at
mfperkins at comcast.net and I'll forward the picture to you.

Like we did last year, we'll offer this to club members for a reasonable
donation. If there are no takers, we'll probably sell it at the Greater
Houston Hamfest next month, or at Texas City in July.

Vy 73,
Mike KD5MVL
