Hi Cam,
When I was talking to Simplex Net Control, receiving @ S4/9 everything was
"normal". When others were transmitting(?) I would see S9/9 with total
silence, no static, nada. About what I would expect with a "dead key" or a
faulty mic.
==================================================================================================
My base station set up is:
Power supply: Samlex SEC1235M, 35 amp
Base station: Kenwood 732A, 144/440 dual-band, 50/25/5 watts
Antenna: Diamond X300A, 144/440 dual-band vertical mounted pole ~30 feet
off ground as in slightly
above the roof-line, location: top of Pendleton St hill in
the West end of Radford.
==============================================================================
Contacts with 2-meter repeaters:
N4NRV/Cloyd Mountain, ~15 miles from Radford (per RepeaterBook.com
proximity search,
147.180 S9/9, clear audio breaks squelch
WA1ZMS/Apple Orchard Mtn,Bedford,~ 65 miles from Radford,
146.685, S5/9 clear audio breaks squelch
==============================================================================
Also, repeater contacts with my HT running 8 watts while sitting in my
living room:
Baofeng BF-F8HP dual-band with a Nagoya 771 15" after-market
antenna:
N4NRV/Cloyd Mountain, ~15 miles from Radford (per RepeaterBook.com
proximity search,
147.180 (no S meter), clear audio breaks squelch,
little or no static
K4EZ/Wytheville, 31 miles from Radford,
146.775 (no S-meter), clear audio breaks squelch,
some static
N4VL/Poor Mtn Roanoke, 36 miles from Radford,
145.410 (no S-meter), clear audio breaks squelch,
some static
WA1ZMS/Apple Orchard Mtn, Bedford~ 65 miles from Radford, 146.685, no
response
These repeaters are all good from the base station.
Let's see how the Simplex Net goes tonight...
