To All:
I will update everyone on the planning meet for the Iron Mountain Endurance
Ride, over the weekend. This is going to be an exciting adventure where
our communications capabilities will add greatly to the safety and convenience
of the event. We will wind up with from 7 to 9 operating positions for the
ride and some locations will require more that one person. We will be very
busy with communications.
Our list of volunteers at this point is;
W4GHS, Glen Sage
KA4EMH, Randy Lilly
KQ4AZ Rick Beavers
KJ4VVL Dee Amsler
KJ4VVK Bob Amsler
N4FPA Roger Bell (Friday)
KM4AZW Josh Greer (Saturday)
AJ4VU Ron Higgins
We will be using the K4EZ linked system for the event. We have
excellent cover with the two northern repeaters. These are the 146.895 Big
Walker Mountain repeater and the 146.27 Beamers Knob repeater. The 146.775
repeater can also be worked from some areas of the route. Randy Lilly and
I will do some testing throughout the route to insure that we have good HT
coverage where we assign operators that will be using an HT only. I will
make up some 1/4 wave antennas to help extend coverage of our HTs and I will be
operating crossband repeat from my trailer to assist low power stations if
needed.
We will be placed at locations that can be reached by roadways so you will
be able to park near these check points with your mobile station.
We are invited to the evening meal back at the Ivanhoe Camp ground each
day. Bring your drinks, noon meal and a folding chair along with your ham
gear. More details will follow later.
I will be at Mars Hill University until around 11:00 pm Saturday night but
will be back for the Sunday net. We still have slots
for additional operators, this includes new hams.
