To All,
We have received the map for the two day Endurance Horse Ride that will be
held on August 22nd and 23rd. Details can be found at http://www.ironmountainjubilee.com/index.html.
We will be needing ham radio operators at a number of locations along the
route to provide communications for Vet locations and road crossings. Much
of the trail can be covered by handheld radios but I would suggest the use of
mobile radios at the intersections of roadways and trails. In most
locations, you should be able to bring a lawn chair, cooler, food and
your radio and antenna system.
We will be there for communications from point to point on the route,
emergency communications or to report progress of the riders on the trail.
I will check out communications from the various check points along the trail to
determine what type equipment will be needed. We will have at least 4
areas to cover on Friday and 5 areas to cover on Saturday. If we have
extra operators, we will cover additional areas.
Look the maps over and let me know if you have a choice location.
We try to use one of the comm trailers at the starting point and at the far
end of the trail. These trailers are the W4GHS and KA4EMH units. We
will have Winlink in both Comm Trailers.
You will need to insure that you have the following repeaters programmed
into your rigs; 146.895 -, 146.775-, and 145.270-. All these use a minus
offset and a tone of 103.5. All these repeaters are linked so when you
work one, you will be working all the others.
Send me an email if you are interested in helping of if you have
questions.
Thanks,
Glen Sage, W4GHS
