[nrv-hams] Meetin with Mr. Griffith

I had a very cordial meeting this afternoon with Congressman Morgan Griffith
about H.R. 4969. He was aware of the phone calls and e-mails from hams
urging him to co-sponsor the bill, and that got his attention, for sure. If
you have not phoned or e-mailed his office yet, please do it as soon as you
can. I think we can get him on board as a co-sponsor but more constituent
messages will help him decide. I mentioned that there are a number of active
ham radio clubs in his district and named several I am aware of, including
NRVARC, VTARA, the Radford U club, the Floyd club, and (because part of
Roanoke County is in the 9th district) the Roanoke club. I mentioned ham
radio's service to the Blacksburg office of the NWS. This is a ham radio
thing, not a partisan political thing. We are seeking co-sponsors from all
political parties and philosophies.

I have more meetings tomorrow with members of Congress and/or their staff
people. I was at 12 offices today and my feet are calling me things I won't
repeat. All in the best of causes, however!
