Or check your manual to see if the radio you use, like some of mine, have a
'home' or 'call' channel setting that does a quick scan of that channel
every few seconds to check for activity.  I THINK that if you press the PTT
button while it is receiving the home channel transmission, it will stick
on that frequency.

This is one feature I don't use, but I recall setting it up on an old
Kenwood, but I found that I was always tuned to the .180 machine anyway, so
no need for it.

The dual band idea is good if you want to spend some money!
