Band conditions were excellent last weekend for the ARRL November
Sweepstakes, CW version. In just 260 contacts, I was able to work 47 states,
missing only Kentucky, South Carolina, and Nebraska. Also worked Puerto
Rico, US Virgin Islands, and several Canadian provinces.
Two more contests coming up before the end of the year are good ways to fill
in some blanks towards the Worked All States award.
The phone version of the November Sweepstakes starts late in the afternoon
on November 19. The exchange (what operators say to each other) is
complicated, but I'll post a note about it later on.
The ARRL 10 Meter Contest uses both phone and CW, but you don't have to work
both modes if you don't want to. It's the weekend of December 10-11. In this
contest you can work stations in both the USA and foreign countries. If
you've never experienced 10 meters when it's a world-wide band, you have a
treat in store. With a simple antenna and 100 watts, people work the world.
I hope the good conditions continue and we all have fun on 10 meters after a
long dry spell.
