I have been useing MANY Power pole connectors here, converted over to them slowly when I started on 10Ghz 6yrs ago. I have had no problems at all, but I SOLDER every connector. I never invested in a crimping tool and use them in MANY low current as well as high current applications. If the conductor is small enough I will fold the conductor over and double it prior to solder. If larger conductor I will "crush" the barrel of the connector a bit prior to soldering. doing that one has to be careful or the barrel of the connector will "fatten" too much for assembly.
The only issue I have ever had was the little black rollpin sometimes is not tight enough to stay in place. I have used a number of different ways to resolve that. A dab of hot glue (if not exposed to heat or hot locations) works. But more often I use the jacket off of a piece of hookup wire of the right gauge. The jacket will be malable (sp) without the conductor and works very well.
Sorry to hear of the bad experiences some have had.
