[NLRS] Adding 902 MHz

A few questions. Is it worthwhile to add 902 MHz FM only, at least for
rovers? For a couple of us rovers, 222 MHz FM into horizontally polarized
antennas worked out very well in this past contest. I happened to have an
HT that I use all the time that also has some 222 capability, so for me it
was cheap to have that band.
I noticed that a certain amount of the commercial gear can transmit around
902, but seems to receive higher. Anybody know of an inexpensive rig that
will do simplex at 902 FM?
And is there a way to add 902 all-mode on a tight budget? Is the best bet
to build up the W1GHZ transverter, or are there other options besides DEMI
(which is a little pricey)?
Thanks and 73,
David W9HQ
