Hi Mike:
I think I detect that you're asking more about computer logging.
But to continue the paperlogging thread....
Since I mostly rove, and as a single-op at that, I just haven't
been able to switch over to laptop logging yet. So I use a
logpage that I developed that helps me keep bands straight.

If you look at the logsheets you'll see that I have a little
square for the grid. I have to write in the grid like:
EN
17
If you click on the links above and it loads excel into your
browser, you'll have to save the file on your computer. Or, right
mouse-click the links above to save on your computer.

I print out a nice clean master and then go to kinko's and print
up a bunch on both sides of paper. (Or I take the time to print
both sides on my laserprinter).
Then I download the .pdf summary sheets from the ARRL on the day
that I'm putting my log together for mailing.
Oh, once the package is complete, I ALWAYS go back to kinko's and
copy the whole package so that I have a log for my records (and
QSL'ing). When I mail to ARRL, I toss in a self-addressed
postcard that says "We got your xxx VHF log entry". They
time/date stamp it and mail it back to me.
I keep the log copies (with summary sheet) in document protectors
in a binder. I keep certificates I've earned in document
protectors in the front. I sometimes print out the new (arrlweb)
.pdf results that have the line listings (like the old days in
QST) and put those in a document protector as well in that binder.
After 15+ years of contesting, I've one binder for January, one
(big) binder for June and Sept, and one binder for UHF and
sprints.
While I like computers and think it's neat that a guy can stay in
the electronic domain all the way through email submission of his
log, I still have my feet in the past. :-)
