Google Maps and Grid Squares (was: [NLRS] W0IS & KC0OIA)

Mostly for Rick (and Yippy), but this may be some inspiration for Brent
in what he was describing that he was trying to do and useful to other
NLRSers not afraid to 'hack' with "interactive" URLs,

This URL will show the boundaries of EN36...

http://f6fvy.free.fr/qthLocator/fullScreen.php?locator=EN36

Outlined in Blue. This is something that Larry (Laurent), F6FVY, created
(maybe like what Brent mentioned he was working on?) and I "adopted" it
(with Larry's blessing) to help folks find their 6-character Grid
locator for the Sprint Sprints, since, if you click on the map, it will
display the lat, lon and 6-character Grid Locator of where you clicked
as well as showing the border of the 6-character locator. I suggested
that Larry add the capability to have it work with 'just' 4 character
Grid Squares, which he did and he ALSO extended it to be able to show
the so-called "Major Grids", just 2-characters, such as "EN".

It looks like I-35 doesn't actually take you IN to EN37, but, presuming
you will be taking Highway 61 NE out of Duluth, you will pass through
EN46. You can move this map around with the 'hand' as well as use the
zoom in/out and move up/down/left/right controls at the upper left of
the window. "Clicking", however, is captured by the process that
displays the 6-character information.

For detail of where I-35 changes from EN35 to EN36, try
http://f6fvy.free.fr/qthLocator/fullScreen.php?locator=EN36ma or
http://f6fvy.free.fr/qthLocator/fullScreen.php?locator=EN35mx

For detail of where Highway 61 transitions from EN36 to EN46, try
http://f6fvy.free.fr/qthLocator/fullScreen.php?locator=EN36xu or
http://f6fvy.free.fr/qthLocator/fullScreen.php?locator=EN46au

For detail of where Highway 61 transitions from EN46 to EN47, try
http://f6fvy.free.fr/qthLocator/fullScreen.php?locator=EN46dx or
http://f6fvy.free.fr/qthLocator/fullScreen.php?locator=EN47da

Last, but not least, if you take a look at
http://f6fvy.free.fr/qthLocator/fullScreen.php?locator=EN47gd&zoom=4
you can see that Gooseberry Falls State Park is pretty much right in the
middle of EN47gd.

Hope this is some help.

73, JK
