Hello NLRS land.
As previously discussed, the SBMS 2.3 GHz & Up contest is April 29 & 30.
Many of us will be busy with Aurora'06 on Saturday, but Sunday we are planning
to get out and play a bit. Just a low key, "blow the dust of the stuff"
event. Remember this is a club score only competition ; no individual
scores. Please keep your own log and then send them to me. I prefer an Excel
file, but will accept your paper log. I will compile our NLRS score and sent
it in.
Based upon several discussions, here are the initial plans ... these are in
no way cast in concrete !
A) For those who want, bring your 2.3 GHz and up portable systems to Aurora
on Saturday and we can make some 1 km Q's for unique's. These are worth
100 pts ! Make sure you have a log that indicates who you worked, what band,
exchange, and band.
B) On Sunday we plan to be a bit more organized.
1. You will find communications throughout the day on 146.46 and 144.260.
We also plan to use cell phones for coordination (legal for this contest).
2. Lets plan for an activity hour, especially for off of downtown. Each
new call per band is 100 pts ! How about 10:00 am and again at 4:30 pm ?
3. Here are TENTATIVE plans from those that I am aware of.
W0GHZ : Home
WB0LJC : Portable fixed
N0KP : Either home or rover
W0ZQ : Rover
W0JT : Rover
KC0IYT : Rover
W0AUS : Home at least, perhaps portable fixed ?
WA2VOI : Rover, or portable fixed ?
The rovers may operate as a pack and should be pretty well equipped with
2.3, 3.4, and 10 gig. I will also have 5.7. One thought is that one group of
fixed portable stations could set up somewhere ; Buck Hill, Flying Cloud,
etc., while the rover pack starts at New Trier and then heads down towards
Rochester. Perhaps we can talk Mel, KC0P, to be our local guide down that way.
More discussion welcomed. The idea is to get on and have some fun.
