Carl,

I don't know how close you are to central MN, but if you like, you can come over here and plug it into my spectrum analyzer and check out the purity as well.  I've got plug-ins for the HP141T that run from 10KHz to 8-10GHz, some up to 2 watts into 50 ohms.  You are also more than welcome to use my HP431C power meter under close supervision (you fry--you buy).  The spectrum analyzer is the way to go.  Pretty painless, safe, accurate, (within a dB or so).
