Hi All -

I just got done reading an article in the National Contest Journal about the
decline of log submissions. It looked at the January VHF Sweepstakes and they
talked about the Novice privileges boosting logs in the late 50's and the
Tech Plus license boosting log submissions in the early 90's.

They concluded that the only "constant" driver of logs and activity is
VHF/UHF Clubs. Without the clubs, log submissions and activity would be way down.

I'd like to challenge everyone to get on the air next weekend and make as
many Q's as time permits. I'd challenge you to put Northern Lights Radio Society
on your log and submit it to the ARRL. I'd like to have a minimum of 51 logs
but do you think we could get 100 logs turned in? We may not win the contest
as a club but we'd sure turn some heads with 100 logs!

Drop me a note and let me know if you'll be active. Let me know what bands
you'll be active on and what class you'll be (single-op, multi-op, etc.). I'll
pull together all the data and send it out to the reflector before the
contest.

Even if you'll be on the air with a handheld for a couple Q's, let's get us
all active next weekend!
