This may be a little off subject but may possibly work.
There is a voltage doubler circut in the uhf/microwave projects manual
volume 1, the article is titled three useful circuits, by rick fogle wa5tny.
it uses Siliconix si7661cj square-wave generator as the device.
It was a little difficult finding those, but I called up dallas maxim
http://www.maxim-ic.com/ if I rember correctily and they sent me free
samples. The rest of the parts were available from radio shack. By the way
it is a 12v to 28v doubler. Hope that helps.
