Hi Mark, sorry to hear about your run in with the rules. I suppose that
the reason that the "1 or 2 man" rover rule exists is to level the playing
field. Having done both one man and two man roving, I think its easier to
generate a bigger score with a 2 man operation, so perhaps a three man,
four man, or more, would be even more of an advantage (over a one or two
man crew). So, generally, I think its a good rule.
At the same time, what to do about those situation like yours ? That's a
tough one. I suspect that the League doesn't see many four op, family,
rover like entries so it doesn't fit anywhere. I suppose its to late for
the June VHF contest, but for future contests, it may be a good idea to get
some feedback from Dan Henderson, N1ND [email protected] and ask what
operating class this situation could be submitted as. You may want to
make some suggestions for them to consider. The worst case is that it
doesn't fit into any existing operating class and its treated as a check
log.
Let us know how this turns out.
