Fun was had today on 10 Ghz. I went to the hill in Monticello at about
10:30 AM. Jim, K0KFC joined me there at about 11:10.
We set up and immediately worked Gary, WB0LJC and Lenny, K0SHF in St.
Anthony (Broadway and Stinson Blvd I think) with 10 over S9 signals. We then
worked Bruce, W9FZ at Vasa, also with strong signals.
We then went looking for Donn, WA2VOI who was suppost to use a repeator in
Willmar to contact us to let us know he was at Mt. Tom (Elevation 1352)
north of Willmar and ready to go. Well I screwed up and gave him a repeator
in Willmar that there was one on the same freq in Mpls. Needless to say, we
could not hear the one in Willmar because the on in Mpls covered it up.
Well after figuring out we had a problem, I spent a half hour chasing other
repeaters in the area to see if Donn was on one of them. Lenny an Gary just
went ahead and started calling on 10Ghz and worked Donn in no time flat,
proving once again that 10Ghz is more reliable then 2M, given the right
conditons.
Jim and I then worked Donn over the what I think is a 62 mile path. I don't
have exact coordinates.
The high light of the afternoon was working Mike, KM0T in EN13. Thats a 192
mile shot. Mike, the six digit grid is EN35CG. Oh, that was on SSB. Mike,
the card will be waitng for you in Milwaukee. Thanks for a great contact.
Gary, WB0LJC had moved to Mounds Park. So we worked in from there with good
strong signals and Lenny had moved to Burnsville, so we worked him, also
with strong signals.
Thanks to everyone who went today. I know Jim and I had a great day at
Monticello and I am sure everyone else had fun too.
73's

P.S. I hope I didn't leave anythig out, but if I did I am sure someone else
will fill in the details.
