[NJARC] broken belt on AK30

Hello radio enthusiasts, I could use some help with an Atwater Kent radio I'm working on.  Anybody have any hints on how to fix\replace a broken tuning belt on an Atwater Kent Model 30?  I know they sell replacements, but are they hard to install? Is there a better way to link the caps back together than the belts they used? Is there a special procedure for ensuring that the variable caps are at the right positions when the belt is reinstalled?  Thanks,
