hi john,
you have my vote .njarc should have a permanent home at infoage.as
the meeting room now has heat
its time to reserve one friday a month for our club meetings.first in line
will assure a permanent reservation.
perhaps the club should have an ebay work day once a month (on a
weekend like the service clinic)
where donated items can be listed & packed for shipment.we do have internet
access at the museum.
radios , test equipment & large items need to be photographed, listed &
packaged before the sale.we only need
to do six large items a month & the excess inventory will be cleared out in
a year.small items like tubes , parts ,
books , etc should be packed after the sale as buyers sometimes purchase
multiple items & want them packed
togeather for shipment.the small items could be packed & shipped by the
wednesday work group.

Subject: [NJARC] "cheap radios at auction club" -vs- real radio
collectorclub
It's time to start acting like a real radio collecting club.
For those of you who don't know about the California club, it is very
active, much like the NJARC, but most of their energies have been in
restoring their wonderful building. Along the way they have built an
outstanding library and display area and their club is being recognized for
the job well done. (see the other message)
Now that we are leaving the Sarnoff center, let's start putting our energies
into Infoage. If we do this, we will have the best club, the best club
building(s), and the best club library in the entire world. And our club
will be meeting in the oldest true radio location.
The old real estate rule of "location, location, location" really works for
us, as Infoage is easily accessed from the North, West, and South, with lots
of parking. And, for visitors driving to Atlantic City, or going by on
their way to vacations, it's an easy stop for them.
Infoage is a win-win for all of us.
I visited the last meeting via Dave's great video link and enjoyed it - but
was disturbed to find out that moving the meeting to Princeton U. was being
pursued. Why would we want to do this? Why would we want to do this now?
This is the perfect time to move our club to Infoage and our club leaders
should do this. Stop the Princeton nonsense. We have a great location,
let's use it - and along the way our club will grow with radio people.
I, and I'm not alone, feel that currently our club is becoming known as the
"cheap radios at auction club". That many members main reason to belong is
simply to load up on cheap radios to resell. This needs to stop! It's not
working out right, auctions are becoming more important than real radio club
activities.
To a great extent it's my fault
And since I have been the main provider of the cheap auction stuff for the
last few years, I have decided to stop doing this. Not until the club
either gets behind Infoage in a real way, or splits into two clubs: a
Princeton area auction club and an Infoage area radio club. Then of course,
I will belong only to the Infoage area club, and support that.
If a Princeton meeting location is pursued, then from now on I will not
refer any radio estates to NJARC, nor point anyone in this direction. If
you want to be the "cheap radios at auction club" you'll have to do this on
your own. (Maybe the Ebay sellers will take over and donate some items to
the club auction for the members?) I'll even suggest a new name for the
sellers club, Ebay Radio Auction Sellers Event, "ERASE".
There is nothing wrong with having two clubs, and I wish the sellers well; I
just no longer want to be associated with them.
