Hmmm....interesting question.
Now, here's the $64 question: are the eye tubes *dim* because of low cathode emission, or are they dim because the target phosphor screen is "tired?" (Or maybe both).
If the tubes have (very) low cathode emission, then they probably wouldn't be much good as amplifiers.
