IrfanView is a photo viewer program that will also reduce the size of
your photos. It will also allow you to crop a small part of a large
photo and use that. You will have to practice a little with it to
learn all about it, but it's not that hard.

After you have it installed, open the program and make the following setting:

Go to View - Display Options:

Then Click on "Fit only big images to window" this means that any
photo will fit within the IrfanView window you have open. If the
photo is too big to normally fit the window, the program will resize
it so you can see the entire photo without scrolling left-right or
top-bottom. It just sets the size so you can see it , it doesn't
change the file at all - you will have to do this.

You can change most any photo - Rotate, Flip, Size, to Greyscale
(B&W), brighten, darken, adjust the colors, etc. It will accept any
type of photo and you can change it's type, IE. from BMP to JPG, etc.

It's worth investing some time playing with it to become familiar with it.

Important - Remember - Always saved your adjusted photos with a new
file name (use Save As). This way if you don't like the results, you
can still go back to the original version. If you just save, the old
file is gone for good.
