Al,
I think that 40M or 75M would probably be the best bet for all of us to
hear each other. We could also do 60M, but that would keep people out who
didn't have that mode in their rigs, or wanted to work AM.
Just a "FYI" I have a complete Motorola 100W "Micor" VHF high band repeater
setup albeit the duplexer, that could be tweaked down to 2M. I'm also
cooridinated on 6M and have the necessary equipment, etc. Regardless, I'd
much rather do something on 75 or 40 Meters for ALL of us to enjoy.
Regarding 20M and down, that's also a distinct possibility if everyone ran
at least 100W and shared the same antenna polarization. I think 10 or 15
Meters would be ideal if we chose that route due to the potential lack of
activity on those bands during periods of low sunspot activity.
I for one, would prefer AM as my mode, but would be willing to do sideband,
or BOTH. Why not invite members who don't have AM rigs to join in as well?
The object obviously, would be communication between members, and (just as a
suggestion) to keep it as informal as possible. This way we can be flexible
and be able to pursue other venues if need be. Besides, I think flexible is
more fun. Just my two cents worth......
We could rotate net control operators in order to give everyone some
experience in running a net. If you've never done so, it can be a lot of
fun!
To ALL Ham and prospective Ham members, please let us know via the bulletin
board what you think of a NJARC Ham net, and it's presence on (1st) 75M and
(2nd) 40M, and if you think you'd be interested in participating. The more
people the merrier it is they say.
Again, if you're a prospective Ham, and have equipment, antenna and other
issues, we'll be able to work things out for you. Many thanks to Rob Flory
for his offer of assistance as well.
Let's hear some more responses!
Regards,
Joe Cro N3IBX
