Winlink is like Yaesu WIRES and Fusion, and Icom D-Star some of the EMCOMM crowd became enamored over.
…and not just that in reality it uses internet where radio links aren’t available.
It is product-dependent… in this case on a product sold only by Bill Gates and company.
FLDIGI is portable and available on Windows, Mac, and Linux, including the Raspberry Pi.
Some of us are Windows-free at home, in the field, and on the road.
You might remember that at one time I had a standards-based email server on the MVMA mesh with a web interface any device could use… in addition to SMTP, POP, and IMAP for any email client.
Winlink may be the email choice of offshore cruisers where wifi mesh isn’t available, but it's a step back into the Dark Ages, IMO.
