>From AJ3X, the Baltimore County RO:
Hello all,
Brief for the inaugural events.
Baltimore County Emergency Management, Fire, Police, BaCo ACS RACES and OIT
will be activating the alternate EOC at the Public Safety Building on
Saturday, Jan 17 from 10 am until approximately 7 PM. Police and Fire
personnel will be actively involved during the train passage through
Baltimore County into Baltimore City.
Starting Jan 17th through Jan 21st a large number of citizens will be
traveling through our area to the DC. Due to the possible impact on the
roadways and lack of available hotel space, contingencies have been made to
handle sheltering, communication and transportation needs.
Baltimore County will have two recreation centers and three Senior Centers
on stand by as shelters/warming centers. Through the cooperation of the
Dept. of Health, Aging, Rec and Parks, Public Works, BaCo ACS RACES, Social
Services and Public Schools, the stand by sites are:
- Eastern Regional Recreation Center
- Honeygo Recreation Center
- Ataeze Senior Center
- Bykota Senior Center
- Catonsville Senior Centers.
The primary purpose of the Senior Centers are to support evacuations of
special needs residents such as those in Assisted Living, Nursing Homes and
Virginia Towers type facilities. Transportation issues are being handled by
County Ride, Public Schools and the Fire Rescue Academy.
BaCo ACS RACES personnel participating in these activities should monitor
BACO 1 and BACO 4, e-mail and SMS as of 0700 hours Saturday, Jan 17. To
ensue we can contact you for deployment please send your weekend contact
numbers to baco.ro at bacoacs.org ASAP.
The State Department of Human Resources will run two round the clock
shelters from January 17 through January 21. MEMA RACES can not support this
activity therefore, MEMA has requested Mutual Aid support from BaCo. The
Baltimore County shelter will be located in Catonsville on the UMBC Campus.
The Maryland Dept of Human Resources along with other state agencies and
BaCo ACS RACES will be staffing the facility. The Harford County shelter
will be located at the Level VFD off of Rt 155.
Depending on the availability of personnel we will run six to eight hour
shifts at the UMBC shelter starting on Saturday, Jan 17 at 0900 hours and be
on standby for deployment to other shelters. Please send me the time slots
you would like to cover and I will do my best to accommodate your request.
We will review this further during Friday nights net at 1930 hours on BaCo
4.
We do need additional personnel to support this event and help prevent
operator burnout. If you are available please contact us ASAP via e-mail.
Joe
