[MRCG] I'm done with Apex, I mean it this time!

Not only did they not have anything close to the 8-conductor, shielded,
1/2" thick cable I need for my GRC-9 power supply, they also refused to
sell me this hacked up ARC-5 that had been made into a 6 Meter VFO (because
the Dymo label said so! It also had a 6146 inside, thats a heck of a VFO!)

and they refused to sell me this crumbling ART-13 (literally, I tried to
pick it up, but immediately gave up as pieces started moving in 5
directions.)

The guy fed me the usual line (BS, IMHO) about renting it out to movie
production.

Really.

When is the last time anyone saw a movie that had an ART-13 in it that
looked like said transmitter was tossed out of a second-story window????

Like this TDE transmitter that I know has been in their yard getting rained
on and rotting away for at LEAST the last 5 years, I'm SO sure its getting
rented out every other week.

That picture is almost 4 years old, and yep, transmitter is still out in
the yard today! Has a little plastic sheeting on the very top now.

So (to help contain my mounting frustration) I started joking with the guy,
I said I'd sure like to spend 5 minutes with the Rolodex full of people who
pay all that money to rent props, I have some real beauties they'd be
interested in, and if business was so darn good, we should spread it
around! He didn't see the same humor in the statement as I did.

As a refugee of the local entertainment industry, I know that a "real"
studio isn't going to waste time with such decayed equipment, and the hip
kids that move out here from Iowa thinking they're gonna be the next big
indie filmmaker sure don't have the cash to "rent" stuff like this,
especially when it looks like that. To my knowledge, there is no
"in-between."

If I'm mistaken, please break out your rolodex, and I'll believe you. ;)

They are certainly entitled to do business as they see fit, but they will
not see another dime of my money, nor will they waste another second of my
time.
