[MRCA] R-148/ARC-5X receiver (14 volt) question

The big question I have concerning the 14 volt input R-148/ARC-5X is:  where would this receiver have been used?  The next question would be: was there a transmitter and modulator associated with the R-148/ARC-5  receiver?
