[MRCA] R-148/ARC-5X receiver (14 volt) question

Early aircraft, such as the Beech D-17 Stagger wing, and early models of the UC-78 and twin Beech had 12V electrical systems, also the SBD, comes to mind.  All of these could potentially have been fitted with command radios, depending upon mission requirements.
Even the early B-17 was 12V!

The big question I have concerning the 14 volt input R-148/ARC-5X is:  where would this receiver have been used?  The next question would be: was there a transmitter and modulator associated with the R-148/ARC-5  receiver?
