We lost the USS Clamagore in Charleston due to 40 plus years of no upkeep.
If there is a Coast Guard group in the area that can try and organize a
group to maintain the Taney,it is possible it can be saved.
We lost the Clamagore due to politics.
We has a group of submariners in the area that were doing
maintenance, but,Patriots Point denied them access to the sub for
maintenance.
We think that if Patriots Point had their way,all the ships here would
be gone and there would be condos here instead, more money.
After being moored many years ago, the USS Yorktown moved for the second
time during the recent storm.
The first time she moved was during Hugo where she moved 6 feet
vertically due to storm surge.
The hull is in very bad shape and she is reportedly buried in 25 feet
of mud.
She is reportedly the only museum ship that cannot be moved.
My opinion from observations.
