Or...perhaps they can't see the point of ham-hacking an authentic
piece of military gear into something that, after modification,
is *still* useless and is now very worthless to anyone who values
the item for its military history.

That's only my guess, of course...I may be wrong.  But I doubt
that it is less accurate than the "too stupid to hook batteries
together" theory. :-)
