I must agree. In about 1965, for reasons I simply do not recall,
contact between a ground-based URC-4 and an airborne Piper Colt and
using a Narco VHT Superhomer (?) that happened to have VHF Guard
installed as one of the frequencies. At the time, we were operating at
about 2500' and at a range of about 6 miles. (Dover AFB to
Dover-Cheswold airport) I don't think we terminated for lack of
communications. Rather, I think we were preparing to land and had other
things to do.. Of course, air-to-ground is the best case. Maybe a
ground-to-ground record is a bird of a different color?
