[MRCA] Sincgars Spring Base resistance?

Hello all,
Picked up a "spring base" that I believe is used with sincgars radios. It has the special shrouded bnc male on one end, a spring in the middle, and a thread for the AT-271 on the other end. I have done some research on this and I am not sure if what I have is the same as what I've found on such sites as prc68.com (thanks Brooke!). I decided to make some DC resistance measurements before trying to use it and I was very surprised at what I saw (and now I am reluctant to try the antenna base).
First, a picture:

looks fairly standard - except the numbering on it seems unique, and not something I've found on the web. The number is: 80063ASSYA3256530-1 which I would be tempted to abbreviate to A3256530-1. I connected a BCN barrel (f-f) and measured from center to shield as about 7.5 ohms. Also, dc resistance from center conductor (bnc) to where the AT-271 attaches was also about 7.5 ohms. I was surprised to see this. I would have expected open circuit from center to shield and 0 ohms from center bnc to at-271.
Anyone have one of these bases (confirmed working) that can also check this? I don't know whether some DC path is used by these radios to signal the radio to its presence, or whether I have a defective unit. If defective, then it might be a short at RF which would not be good. Anyone's thoughts here?
