Merrills Marauders had SCR-300s too, picture of a guy carrying one on  
their web site <http://www.marauder.org/>..  I exchanged some e-mail  
with a Marauders vet a while back and he said the SCR-536s were pretty  
much useless in the jungle, but the -300s worked FB.  There's also a  
very interesting pix on the site of a bunch of GIs gathered around an  
SCR-284 with a kluged up loop antenna on top and what appears to be an  
AVR-115/AVT-15 setup along side.  Go figure...
